Play over the song.

Load a track and Multitake splits it into stems, finds the tempo and writes a click that sits on the song. Then you hit record and lay down your part — audio and video, one take after another.

How it works

Three steps, then you play

01

Bring the song

A file from your library, a backing track you downloaded, an mp3 a friend sent. Multitake reads the tempo and the metre and lays out the grid.

02

Set the stage

Drop the drums or the vocals, write a click in time, pick the preset for your mic. Thirty seconds, not an editing session.

03

Record the take

Hit record and play. Audio and video together, take after take, never losing your place.

Stem separation

Take the part out, keep the song

Vocals, drums, bass and everything else: four stems, separated on your device and written uncompressed. Mute the guitar and play it yourself, or keep only the drums to study the groove.

Tempo and grid

The click sits on the song

Multitake finds the BPM, the first downbeat and the metre, then renders the click on the track’s real beats. You don’t chase a metronome: the metronome follows the song.

Nudge the downbeat a millisecond at a time, double or halve the grid, click on beats, eighths, triplets or sixteenths.

Mix and effects

Five presets, then the chain

Flat, Voice, Acoustic, Amp/DI, Room: pick how the sound came in and you’re done. If you want to get your hands in, the chain is open — noise reduction, low cut, expander, three-band EQ.

A Bypass button at the top of the panel: you can always hear the take as it was recorded.

Video editing

A take you see, not just hear

As many video tracks as you like, the take’s audio channels, one timeline. Split, duplicate, delete; line it all up on the song’s own grid and export a project ready to post.

Speed changes resample the take, and the export re-encodes only once, at the end.

Chords and words

The chart follows you

Multitake reads the chords off the audio and drafts the lyrics from the vocal stem, both timed to the song. While you play, the sounding chord lights up and the line you’re singing waits on screen with the next one under it.

A machine can mishear, so every chord and every line is yours to correct, retime or write by hand. In a project, both can be burned onto the video — made for lessons.

Universal: Apple Silicon and Intel, macOS 15 or later. The stem, beat, chord and lyrics models download once, the first time you use them.

02

First launch

macOS will ask you to confirm: System Settings › Privacy & Security › Open Anyway.

The build is signed but not yet notarized by Apple. It happens once per Mac; after that the app opens like any other.

03

The invite code

The beta is invite-only: on first launch the app asks for the code you were given. Just once on each Mac.

Request an invite

A short form, read by hand. From then on, updates arrive on their own, inside the app.

Questions

Before you ask

Does it upload my songs?

No. Stem separation, tempo detection, chords and lyrics all run on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no account.

Which stems?

Four: vocals, drums, bass and everything else, written uncompressed at 44.1 kHz stereo. Mute any of them and play that part yourself.

How is the click made?

Multitake detects the BPM, the first downbeat and the metre, then renders the click on the song’s real beats: the metronome follows the song.

Which devices?

Mac, with macOS 15 or later, on Apple Silicon and Intel. iPad and iPhone come later.

How do I get in?

The beta is invite-only. Download the app, request an invite code and enter it on first launch. Updates then arrive inside the app.

Hit record. Multitake holds the rest.
